Does an apple exist ?
Even without going into the known qualities from memory of the focused object, is the spatial expanded seeing right now in which there is no apple but the entire spectrum of vision which includes all other so called things around the apple that are missed due to the habitual interest in the special value ascribed to the focused single object.
Our direct experience always is that nothing can exist individually by itself. So the apple disappears when the focus is softened and the thinking mind relaxes and sees what the senses actually see already - wholeness. In value terms it could only be called abstraction. Abstraction in the field of the senses is to be totally with only the raw senses before the meanings from mind come in and get quickly specific again and distract from wholeness using habitual emotional props etc and re-create a story again. Our raw data of actual experience is always whole and simple aliveness with no room for a me yet.
In fact I would say there are no specific objects (since there is only wholeness) but there are only specific memories which are the lens through which wholeness is perceived and if those specific memories /concepts are intense enough then it becomes that much harder to consciously perceive the gentle and subtle sense of aliveness and only the specific memories are perceived and they are called objects…so once the mental and emotional content (matter) of objects is seen through then they cease to exist and only wholeness or aliveness remains…
