Widening Perspective

For so long I had been used to focusing on a small set of familiar sensations
All other sensations had been in my experience but were missed
Simply because I sought comfort in the familiar
And I identified myself with the comfortable
But as I opened myself to looking beyond the familiar
It's not that I saw something new
But I saw what was earlier unfamiliar and alien and no different from what I called familiar
It was just a new and wider perception of the old
And I was bigger than I ever thought was possible
