Before Language
Before I learned language
I had no way of distinguishing one thing from another
I experienced everything equally
I only experienced
I had not yet learnt which experience was mine or not mine
I had not yet separated the world into the ordinary and extraordinary
So I was happy with whatever came up
Then I learnt language
When I named something, I drew a mental border around it
Suddenly, the world was separate from me
And I learnt that it was possible to be unhappy
And the eternal game of finding happiness began
Before I learned language
I had no way of distinguishing one thing from another
I experienced everything equally
I only experienced
I had not yet learnt which experience was mine or not mine
I had not yet separated the world into the ordinary and extraordinary
So I was happy with whatever came up
Then I learnt language
When I named something, I drew a mental border around it
Suddenly, the world was separate from me
And I learnt that it was possible to be unhappy
And the eternal game of finding happiness began
