And He Was Free

He feared the lion
Hid from it
Ran from it
Devised so many ways to avoid it
Ways to protect himself

And then one day
He slowed down
Turned around
Walked slowly towards the lion

For the first time
He noticed the softness of the leaves he walked on
The stunning color of the grass
The breeze brushed his face with a love he not known

And he looked at the lion
Said to him
You are bigger than me
Eat me
I am here now

And in that moment
Of giving himself fully to the lion
He was free
For the first time ever
He was free
